The fortress tower is one of the oldest buildings in Peitz. In public opinion it was named “dicker Turm”. Because of tests, we can say that it dates from the 14th century. The roof, the floor and historical defence works were rebuilt after the union of Germany. Today concerts, readings and cultural events take place inside the tower.
